Cemberlitas Turkish Bath

Cemberlitas Turkish Bath

Cemberlitas Hamam is one of the most historical Turkish baths in Istanbul. The Hamam was commissioned by Nurbanu Sultan, the wife of Sultan Selim II as a charitable foundation for the poor. It was built in 1584 by the renowned Ottoman architect, Mimar Sinan.

Its history, architecture and close proximity to Sultanahmet and the Grand Bazaar make it a popular option for tourists, photographers and filmmakers alike.

There are separate sections for men and women with identical facilities in both, although part of the female wing was torn down in the 19th century so women now change in a corridor.

Visitors are given a pestemal (a small cotton wrap) and exfoliating mitt on entry, and tokens can be purchased for the different bathing options which include sauna & bath, Indian head massage and reflexology and an oil massage. Tokens must be given to the bath attendants.

There are lockers provided for belongings. Water and soft drinks can be purchased on site.
