Uskudar Cinili Turkish Bath

Uskudar Cinili Turkish Bath

Cinili Hamam, located in the Asian sea-side suburb of Uskudar, was built in 1640 and is one of the most historic Turkish baths in the area. Favoured by locals and foreign residents in Istanbul, this impeccably clean, friendly and reasonably priced hamam is one of the all-round best value hamams in the city.

Also known as 'Eski Hamam' or 'Old Hamam', Cinili Hamam was commissioned by Kosem Sultan in the 17th century and has marble slab and glass partitions in the dome of this hamam. There are separate sections for men and women and a fountain at the entrance.

On arrival, guests are guided into their own lockable changing room and given a pestemal, slippers and individual soap. They are then led to the main area which has a large marble slab in the middle and small rooms off to the side with small basins. There is also a sauna available for guests' use.

There is no English on the Hamam's website and staff speak limited English inside. Price for a full scrub, exfoliation peeling and use of the sauna and tubs is 27TL.

Tea, coffee and soft drinks are available.
